Dose titration is the process of gradually changing (titrating) the dose of a drug to get the best effect while minimizing side effects.
In ME/CFS, titrating up to a target dose is particularly important. Many people with ME/CFS have chemical and other sensitivities, which means their body reacts harshly to new things introduced to their system. Starting at lower doses and working up to a higher dose can help alleviate some of the reactions to a new drug.
In OMF’s clinical trial, the Life Improvement Trial, participants go through dose titration for both drugs being investigated. Read more about the trial here.
